We had a plan for a bespoke garden room made up of a separate bar/games room, gym and a bathroom, and Urban Spaces made it happen for us. They also made good suggestions for improvements in our design. Chris and his team were great. They were always responsive to our questions and any challenges they faced they found solutions

The client had a large garden which they wanted to make better use of. They were looking for a space for the family to hang out in with space for a pool table, dart board, video games and a large bar. They also wanted a gym to use with their personal trainer. Adding a bathroom made perfect sense to make use of with the gym.
The client was very keen to ensure the design of the garden room blended in perfectly with the back of their garden and its surroundings. They also wanted lots of natural light with multiple sets of bi-fold doors to open out on to the garden.
The size of this garden room meant we required a Certificate of Lawfulness and compliance with necessary building regulations, but full planning permission was not required.
Our design and specification team spent a lot of time making sure the overall design gave the client lots of natural light and access to the garden, whilst blending into its surroundings. In order to accommodate the extra height the client required in the gym, we designed this garden room with a pitched, rather than a flat, roof. We also designed an access hallway to keep a divide between the different rooms.
The position of the build site was at the back of a large garden with boggy ground. This would have made any traditional build very tricky as it would have been too big a distance for a crane to lift materials over the top of the house and to the back of the garden. Plus, shuttling wheelbarrows of cement back and forth across the boggy ground would have been quite a challenge! So, this made it perfect for a modular construction, as our team carried the various sections by hand round the side of the house.
