Founder of Urban Spaces, Chris Burdett, has been in construction for over 30 years. Chris is very hands-on and designs every single one of our bespoke living spaces. Our team will provide you with a first class, honest and professional service at each stage of the process: from initial enquiry, through to quotation, designs, planning, build and our premium after care service. We also offer an unrivalled 30-year warranty on all our garden rooms and annexes.
With business partner, Alex Lever, Chris previously launched an innovative product used in the plumbing and heating sector, which included a successful appearance on BBC One’s Dragons’ Den. Chris also regularly features in the construction trade press reviewing new products.
Story
Founded in Hertfordshire, Urban Spaces emerged from a passion for sustainable architecture and a desire to offer homeowners versatile living options. Recognising the challenges of traditional construction—lengthy timelines, high costs, and significant disruptions—we embraced modular building techniques to deliver efficient and eco-friendly alternatives.

Founder
A builder with over 30 years of experience in the construction industry. Chris’s passion for modern, eco-friendly building techniques resulted in the creation of Urban Spaces. Chris also invented PipeSnug, a revolutionary product in the building sector which gained significant recognition, including a successful appearance on BBC One’s Dragons’ Den.
Alex Lever
Director
An accomplished entrepreneur with a diverse background in various industries. As co-founder of PipeSnug, Alex grew the business from scratch to a successful exit, securing investment offers on Dragons’ Den along the way. Alex’s experience brings valuable insights to help Urban Spaces scale.
Donna Tappin
Project Manager
Donna has worked in the industry since 2005, previously with two major competitors. She oversees day-to-day project management, material ordering and supplier negotiations. Donna also handles customer enquiries, lead intake and appointment scheduling – playing a key role in delivering a seamless client experience.

Our process includes an initial consultation to understand your needs, detailed design and 3D visualisation, off-site construction to ensure precision and quality, and efficient delivery and installation within 2-3 weeks.

Completed build in as little as 2 weeks
We believe the less time spent on your property the better, so all of Urban Spaces projects are pre-built off-site meaning that when we arrive on-site to fit, we can generally delivery a fully watertight room within 48 hours and a completed project within 2-3 weeks.
